On the first level of the programme, we are travelling to Europe in 1815. At that time, an important conference, the Congress of Vienna, brings together the leaders of all the countries in Europe. The Napoleonic wars that had unsettled Europe are over, and now the leaders of the countries must decide on the future of the “old continent”.... Travel through Europe in 1815 and discover the borders of the countries of the continent at that time. Interact with the map to learn the secrets of each country. Which countries have an emperor and which have a king? What are their differences? Were new countries born at that time? Live in the time of kings and emperors and the great politicians who shaped Europe, as we know it today. Among them there was one Greek. Learn their history and collect the coats of arms of the European countries.
On the second level, we move to the Balkans of the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century. In this region something will start to change. The Balkan peoples no longer want to be subjects of the Ottomans and rebel. Men and women rise up against the Ottoman forces and write the history of their country with their blood.... Look for the signs of the revolution and witness the story that the flames tell. Tour Macedonia during the 19th century and learn about the heroes and heroines of the Macedonian Struggle. Who are the fighters Emmanuel Pappas, Tasos Karatasos, Theodoros Ziakas, Peristera Kraka and how did they pave the way for the liberation of Macedonia? Learn their story and gather the flames of the revolution.
On the third level, we are transported to Thessaloniki during the 19th century. The city is still under Ottoman occupation. It will take several years, until 1912, for the Ottoman forces to leave the city and the Greek flag to be raised. Until then, the inhabitants of this multi-ethnic city kept flourishing.... They found schools, orphanages and cultural associations, build churches and sophisticated buildings, publish newspapers, trade and live like the Europeans. Discover 19th century Thessaloniki through its buildings and people. Within the city of Thessaloniki lies its Ottoman history, waiting to be explored. Learn about the monuments located in the area. What’s their story? Go back in time and meet the people living in Thessaloniki during the 19th century. How different are they from you? Learn their history and collect the points of interest in the city.
